B-17 Bomber Excursion

Cliff and I recently had the opportunity to fly in one of only 5 flying B-17 World War II bombers. This plane is owned by the Yankee Air Force at Willow Run Airport in Michigan.

It took over 100,000 man hours to restore the plane to its current condition. Over 24,000 men lost their lives in these planes during the war. Pictured in the photos is Clifford Peterson, a WW2 veteran. Cliff recalls seeing these planes flying during the war in the Pacific when he was stationed on the USS Newberry.
